Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Gautier). They were the clear victor by a 27-4 margin over the Laurel Golden Tornadoes on Friday. The Gators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by 11 runs or more this season.
Sierra Smith was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she hit this season. Kymory Davis was another key player, going 1-for-4 with six RBI and four runs.
The victory made it two in a row for Gautier and bumps their season record up to 7-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Laurel, they dropped their record down to 2-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home.
