Recap: Glens Falls Indians vs. Queensbury Spartans

After flying high against the Schuylerville Horses last Thursday, the Glens Falls Indians came back down to earth. Glens Falls took a 62-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Queensbury on Monday. While losing is never fun, Glens Falls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while Queensbury is ranked 49th).

Several Indians players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Darielle Gooden, who scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gooden has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Piper Eddy, who scored 11 points.

Queensbury got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shea Canavan out in front who almost dropped a triple-double on 19 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists. Canavan is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Dyllan Ray was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Glens Falls' loss dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Queensbury, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 12-1.

Glens Falls will look to defend their home court on Thursday against South Glens Falls at 7:00 p.m. As for Queensbury, they will head out on the road to challenge Hudson Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
