Treutlen hasn't had much luck against Hawkinsville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Vikings will be playing at home against the Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. Treutlen will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
While Treutlen's victory against Dooly County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Vikings skirted past the Bobcats 15-13.
It was another big night for Zaniel Stokes, who rushed for 139 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 8.7 yards per carry, and also picked up 45 receiving yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Treutlen was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 201 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dooly County only rushed for -2.
Treutlen didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Peyton Miller, Nate Miller, and Zion Brown picked up one apiece.
Meanwhile, Hawkinsville really took it to Montgomery County for the full four quarters, racking up a 46-7 win. The matchup marked the Red Devils' most dominant victory of the season.
Hawkinsville had a senior duo take command as Nieem Blair rushed for 60 yards and three TDs and Sebastian Clark threw for 182 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 85.7% of his passes. Blair didn't just play on offense: he also made three total tackles and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
Treutlen's win bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Hawkinsville, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 6-2.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Treutlen has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 195.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Hawkinsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 214.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
