Volleyball Recap: Mattoon Greenwave vs. Taylorville Tornadoes
Mattoon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 2-0 to the Taylorville Tornadoes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tornadoes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 two weeks ago.
The final score came out to 25-20, 25-15.
Mattoon's offense was headlined by Zion Johnson and Kacey Ramage, who picked up four kills apiece. They got some help from Khloe Hall and her 11 assists. Ava Larson controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.
Taylorville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Prince out in front who had 11 assists and three aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Molly Smith, who had six digs and two aces.
Mattoon's defeat dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Taylorville, they pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Mattoon has already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Effingham on the 20th. As for Taylorville, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-1 win against Mt. Zion on the 23rd.
