Baseball Recap: Godby Comes Up Short

The Godby Cougars lost 22-9 to the Aucilla Christian Warriors on Thursday. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by exactly 13 runs.

Jaylen Roque was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Jayson Jefferson also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Even though they lost, Godby was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aucilla Christian only posted a batting average of .231.

This is the second loss in a row for Godby and nudges their season record down to 1-6. As for Aucilla Christian, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Looking ahead, Godby will venture away from home to square off against Wakulla Christian School at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Godby has given up an average of 12.3 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Aucilla Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Madison County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Madison County's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Aucilla Christian's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
