Baseball Game Preview: Harnett Central Trojans vs. Enloe Eagles

The Harnett Central Trojans will face off against the Enloe Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Harnett Central has three straight wins, Enloe has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Harnett Central is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on E.E. Smith with a sharp 21-1 victory on Thursday. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Enloe came up short against Athens Drive last Thursday and fell 7-2.

Malhar Shelke was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Those hits were his first of the season.

At the plate, Enloe saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Steene, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Harnett Central pushed their record up to 9-5 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Enloe, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
