Soccer Game Preview: Hockinson vs. R.A. Long

The Hockinson Hawks will head out on the road to square off against the R.A. Long Lumberjacks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.

Hockinson's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Mark Morris with a sharp 7-0 win. That seven goal margin sets a new team best for Hockinson this season.

Meanwhile, R.A. Long won against Hudson's Bay on Thursday with two goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Saturday. The Lumberjacks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over Woodland. The final result isn't all the surprising considering R.A. Long's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Washington soccer rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Woodland are ranked 206th).

Hockinson's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 17 goals over those three matchups. As for R.A. Long, their record now sits at 9-3-1.

Hockinson was able to grind out a solid win over R.A. Long in their previous matchup back in March, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
