Softball Recap: Centennial's Run of Five Straight Victories Now Over

It was a good run, but Centennial unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Waxahachie Indians. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.

Madelyn Hickey was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kaelyn Weldon, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Waxahachie, their win ended a three-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-4.

Coincidentally, Centennial and Waxahachie will both be playing South Grand Prairie the next time they take the field. Waxahachie will host South Grand Prairie at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while Centennial will head out to face them at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
