Volleyball Recap: Churubusco Eagles vs. Prairie Heights Panthers
Churubusco extended their losing streak to seven on Saturday, dropping them down to 7-21. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Prairie Heights Panthers. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 3-1.
Kelsee Coil paced Churubusco's offense, picking up nine kills. Coil got some help from Alyssa Marks and her 17 assists. Coil was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.
As for Prairie Heights, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-21. The game was the first time they have beaten Churubusco on their court since October 17, 2020.
Leading Prairie Heights to victory were Chloe Kintz and Bailey DeLancey. Kintz had 16 digs and one assist, while DeLancey had 21 assists and two aces. What's more, DeLancey also posted a 75% hitting percentage, which is the highest she's achieved since back in August.
Churubusco wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against Fremont on the 11th. As for Prairie Heights, they will challenge Central Noble at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
