Recap: Rangeview Raiders vs. Denver East Angels
It was a good run, but the Rangeview Raiders unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell 43-30 to Denver East. Rangeview was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Denver East apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Rangeview lost, one person who can't be blamed is D'ajha Horton. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with five rebounds.
Rangeview struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Denver East racked up 14 assists.
Denver East got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mairead Hearty out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds. Hearty is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 13 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ligia Thortvedt, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Rangeview's loss dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Denver East, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Rangeview won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Colorado Springs Christian at 7:00 p.m. on February 8th. Colorado Springs Christian is coming into the contest with eight straight wins at home, so Rangeview is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum. Denver East will take on George Washington at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Denver East focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday.
