Softball Recap: Clintonville Comes Up Short

Luxemburg-Casco hit Clintonville with a four-run first inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Truckers took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Spartans. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Truckers of the 17-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Marley Tauferner was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Tate, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Clintonville dropped their record down to 5-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Luxemburg-Casco, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Clintonville will square off against rival Freedom at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Luxemburg-Casco is set to take on their familiar foe Fox Valley Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Spartans 1.2, the Foxes 2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
