Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

St. Joseph came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with an 8-5 win over the Westhill Vikings. That's two games straight that the Cadets have won by exactly three runs.

St. Joseph got a great performance from Martin Mitev as he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up five earned runs off four hits. Mitev has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kyle Esteves was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Adam Chaves was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

St. Joseph now has a winning record of 8-7. As for Westhill, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

St. Joseph will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Vikings: the pair will be back at it again later today.
