Basketball Recap: Bishop Manogue Takes Down Ranked Fernley + How To Watch

Bishop Manogue faced Fernley in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Miners came out on top in a nail-biter against the Vaqueros, sneaking past 48-46. The 48-point effort marked the Miners' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Bishop Manogue's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aaron Westphal led the charge by putting up 11 points in addition to six rebounds and five assists. That's the most boards Westphal has posted since back in January. Jamahl Jackson was another key player, earning ten points.

The victory was the third in a row for Bishop Manogue, bringing their record up to 5-1. As for Fernley, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bishop Manogue will be home for the holidays to greet Reed at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Fernley, they will host Incline at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vaqueros will be up against the Highlanders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 58.43 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
