Softball Recap: Arp Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Arp entered their tilt with Douglass on Tuesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They came out on top against the Indians by a score of 11-8. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered an 8-7 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Lacy Fletcher made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Addison Carpenter and Aubry Way did most of the damage at the plate: Carpenter scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Way went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Hannah Martindale was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Arp pushed their record up to 22-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Douglass, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.

Arp and Douglass should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. The Tigers will take on Gladewater at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (305 vs. 927). Meanwhile, Douglass (ranked 565th) will meet New Summerfield (ranked 1199th) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
