Monessen picks up 17th straight win at home

Recap: Monessen Greyhounds vs. Jefferson-Morgan Rockets

The Monessen Greyhounds came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 60-41 victory over Jefferson-Morgan. The score was all tied up 25-25 at the break, but Monessen was the (much) better team in the second half.

Several Rockets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaymison Robinson, who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Robinson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dayten Marion, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.

Monessen pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 19.53 points. As for Jefferson-Morgan, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Monessen will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against West Greene at 7:30 p.m. West Greene will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 578th, while Monessen is ranked 236th). As for Jefferson-Morgan, they will head out on the road to face off against California at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. California and Jefferson-Morgan are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
