Basketball Recap: El Rancho's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

El Rancho fought the good fight in their overtime match against Whittier on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Whittier Cardinals 60-56. The Dons have struggled against the Cardinals recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, El Rancho still got an impressive performance from Adam Rivas, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 22 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Rivas a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Andrew Morones, who posted 16 points and five rebounds.

Even though they lost, El Rancho smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 6.8 offensive boards per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 7.4.

El Rancho's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-11. As for Whittier, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-9.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing La Serna the next time they take the court. El Rancho will host La Serna at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Whittier will head out to face them at 5:15 p.m. on January 29th.
