Texico hasn't had much luck against Eunice recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Wolverines will challenge the Cardinals at 1:00 p.m. The last three games Texico has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
On Thursday, Texico didn't have quite enough to beat Santa Rosa and fell 6-4.
Texico saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Reese, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Eunice entered their tilt with Jal on Tuesday with 23 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 24. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won 15 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
Luis Zamora was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Eunice always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jal only posted an OBP of .333.
Texico's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Eunice, their record is now 24-1.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Texico hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Eunice struggles in that department as they've averaged .360. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Texico might still be hurting after the 14-2 defeat they got from Eunice in their previous meeting last Tuesday. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
