McKinley had lost five games on the road dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 2-7 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They had just enough and edged out the Western Reserve Blue Devils 16-14. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 11-10 on Monday.

The team relied heavily on Raegan Wynn, who went 3-for-4 with five stolen bases, four runs, and three doubles. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Davianna Bowyer, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
McKinley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .675. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in five consecutive contests.
As for Western Reserve, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss they have suffered since April 15, 2024.
On Western Reserve's side, Averie Hendon was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hendon was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Kylee Ramsey and Sophia Reigle did some serious damage despite the final result: Ramsey went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Reigle went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Sophia Franks also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Looking ahead, McKinley will square off against Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Western Reserve, they will face off against Jackson-Milton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bluejays have averaged an impressive 9.3 runs per game this season.
