Softball Recap: Santa Teresa's Losing Streak Snapped at Six Games

Santa Teresa came into Tuesday's game having lost six straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Leigh Longhorns 9-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 6-2 back in March.

Savanna Herbst and Olivia Montes did most of the damage at the plate: Herbst scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Montes scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. Herbst is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Deanna Hernandez was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Santa Teresa's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Leigh, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12-1.

Looking ahead, Santa Teresa will face off against Leland at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Chargers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.25 runs per game on average), something the Saints will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Leigh, they are taking a road trip to face off against Willow Glen at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Rams will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Longhorns surely won't give up without a fight.
