Waterloo is 9-1 against Cherokee since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Waterloo Cougars are taking a road trip to face off against the Cherokee Indians at 4:30 p.m. Waterloo will be strutting in after a victory while Cherokee will be coming in after a defeat.

It was a proper cat-fight when Waterloo took on Hughes on Tuesday. Waterloo was the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over Hughes. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Clara Lambert, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted over her last ten contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Claire Cooper, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Cherokee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 12-2 to Shoals Christian.

Cherokee saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Libby Collum, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI.

Waterloo's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Cherokee, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.

Cherokee's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Waterloo has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .447. It's a different story for Cherokee, though, as they've only averaged .339. Will they be able to contain Waterloo's hitters?

Waterloo skirted past Cherokee 3-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Does Waterloo have another victory up their sleeve, or will Cherokee turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
