Basketball Game Preview: Midland Legacy Rebels vs. San Angelo Central Bobcats

The Midland Legacy Rebels will square off against the San Angelo Central Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Tuesday, Midland Legacy came up short against Frenship and fell 66-55. While losing is never fun, the Rebels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 302nd, while the Tigers are ranked 60th).

Despite the defeat, Midland Legacy had strong showings from Ja'Varion Starling, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Diego Rodriguez, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 20 points and five assists. That's the most points Starling has posted since back in December of 2024. Tristine Turner was another key player, putting up eight points.

San Angelo Central has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 49-47 heartbreaker at the hands of Permian. The match marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

San Angelo Central's loss dropped their record down to 23-9. As for Midland Legacy, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 17-13.
