Leigh had lost three straight headed into Friday's matchup, but Blake Zanger didn't let it get to four. It took a bit of extra time, but the Longhorns secured a 35-28 win against the Live Oak Acorns in overtime on Friday thanks in part to Zanger: he rushed for 225 yards and three scores while picking up 11.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 46 receiving yards. Zanger has become a key player for Leigh: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-3 otherwise.

Several Acorns players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gage Jones, who rushed for 251 yards and a pair of TDs. Jones is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 161 every time he's taken the field this season. Live Oak also got a significant boost from Adrian Leal, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 92 yards.

Leigh's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 5-4. As for Live Oak, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-2.

Coming up, Leigh will face off against Branham at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The Longhorns will be up against the Bruins' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.56 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Live Oak has already played their next game (against Christopher), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
