Basketball Recap: Buckhannon-Upshur Extends Winning Streak to Four

Buckhannon-Upshur put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 69-51 win over the Teays Valley Christian Lions. The Buccaneers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Leading Buckhannon-Upshur to victory were Jerin Westfall and Brody Mcdaniels. Westfall went 8 for 15 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight boards and five assists, while Mcdaniels went 8 of 13 on his way to 23 points and five rebounds. The matchup was Mcdaniels' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jevon Westfall, who posted 12 points and six assists.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Buckhannon-Upshur was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Buckhannon-Upshur's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Teays Valley Christian, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-4 record this season.

Buckhannon-Upshur won't have much time to rest: their next game is against George Washington at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Buckhannon-Upshur has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Teays Valley Christian, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Parkersburg South at 8:00 p.m. on December 30th.
