Softball Recap: St. Michael Catholic Takes a Loss

St. Michael Catholic extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 3-11. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Excel Panthers. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 5-3 to the Panthers when the teams met back in March of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Excel, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games.

For Excel's part, the team relied heavily on Ava Lynn Dailey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Gillian Hopkins also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Coming up, St. Michael Catholic will be taking part in a tournament against W.S. Neal at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Excel, they are taking a road trip to challenge Robertsdale at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday.
