Softball Recap: Battery Creek Comes Up Short

After flying high against Orangeburg-Wilkinson on Tuesday, Battery Creek came back down to earth. The Dolphins fell just short of the Cross Stingrays by a score of 9-8 on Thursday. The Dolphins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Stingrays apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Autumn Franks made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-5 with two runs and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Mia Isreal, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Battery Creek has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season. As for Cross, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Battery Creek will welcome Orangeburg-Wilkinson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Cross, they will venture away from home to challenge Holly Hill Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
