Softball Recap: Chandler Prep Beats Pima for Their Sixth Straight Win

Chandler Prep waltzed into their contest on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They walked away with a 12-8 win over the Pima Roughriders. For the Titans, this counts as revenge for the 6-5 victory the Roughriders walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2023.

Kyra Tucker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elise Hirsch, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 12 matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate W, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Chandler Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .395. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .370 or higher in eight consecutive games.

Chandler Prep's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 22.0 runs over those games. As for Pima, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-6.

Coming up, Chandler Prep is taking a road trip to square off against Miami at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Chandler Prep will need to watch out since Miami has now posted at least ten runs in their last four contests. As for Pima, they will be playing at home against Leading Edge Academy - GEC at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
