Softball Recap: Birmingham's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Birmingham never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on the Taft Toreadors with a sharp 7-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Patriots, who have now won three matches in a row.

Not much got past Annabella Venegas, who gave up just a hit and racked up nine Ks to keep Taft off the board.

On the hitting side, Bella Gonzalez was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Melanie Mora, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Birmingham pushed their record up to 7-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Taft, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Coincidentally, Birmingham and Taft will both be playing Chatsworth the next time they take the field. The Patriots will head out to face the Chancellors at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, while the Toreadors will host them at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
