The Cardinal Mooney Cardinals will head out on the road to face off against the University School Preppers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Cardinal Mooney comes in on five and University School on three.
Cardinal Mooney barely beat Columbiana the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cardinals were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Clippers on Wednesday. While the Cardinals didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Ryan Reese made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trent Litman, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Johnny Brenner also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, University School made easy work of Orange on Wednesday and carried off a 9-3 win. Considering the Preppers have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Cameron Ryan looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, University School got a massive performance out of Deacon Nelson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Aaron Moss was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
University School pushed their record up to 11-2 with the victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Cardinal Mooney, their record is now 7-3.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Cardinal Mooney has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like University School struggles in that department as they've averaged .444. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
