Helix is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Grossmont is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Highlanders will host the Foothillers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
On Wednesday, Helix made easy work of Mount Miguel and carried off an 18-2 win. The Highlanders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Nikaylah Domingo was incredible, going 3-for-4 with seven RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maliyah Domingo, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.
Helix hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 14 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Grossmont never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Monte Vista. The victory continues a trend for the Foothillers in their matchups with the Monarchs: they've now won nine in a row.
Nakhia Lee made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one double.
In other batting news, Grossmont let Ashley Beard and Heidi Villa run wild. Beard went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while Villa got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Riley Frankwick was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Helix is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Grossmont, their victory bumped their record up to 10-15-1.
Everything went Helix's way against Grossmont when the teams last played two weeks ago, as Helix made off with a 15-3 win. Will the Highlanders repeat their success, or do the Foothillers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
