For the first time this season, Lordsburg will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will welcome the Mescalero Apache Chiefs at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Lordsburg is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-12 heartbreaker at the hands of Duncan.

Lordsburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Daniel Scott, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The Mavericks are 2-1 when Scott posts three or more RBI, but 2-4 otherwise. Another was Victor Valdez, who scored three runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Mescalero Apache made easy work of Dora on Monday and carried off an 11-5 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Chiefs.
Kaden Comanche made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Anthony Yuzos was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. Nick Yuzos was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
Mescalero Apache kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matchups.
Lordsburg now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Mescalero Apache, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lordsburg has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .536. However, it's not like Mescalero Apache struggles in that department as they've averaged .484. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lordsburg skirted past Mescalero Apache 9-8 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Will the Mavericks repeat their success, or do the Chiefs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
