Softball Recap: Kennedy Catholic Lancers vs. Kentwood Conquerors

Kennedy Catholic had lost four straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 7-8 to make it five. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kentwood Conquerors. If the Lancers were looking for revenge after losing 15-0 to the Conquerors when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Kentwood, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-6. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games.

For Kentwood's part, Gabby Greenwood spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on one hit and racked up 14 Ks. Greenwood has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Joe Francis-Rodrigues and Ell Sakai did most of the damage at the plate: Francis-Rodrigues went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Sakai earned two RBI, one run, and one stolen base. Sofia Mottern Salinas was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three runs.
