Softball Game Preview: Villa Park Spartans vs. Sunny Hills Lancers

The Villa Park Spartans will head out to face off against the Sunny Hills Lancers at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Sunny Hills took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Villa Park, who comes in off a win.

Villa Park took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against El Dorado, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Spartans came out on top in a nail-biter against the Golden Hawks on Tuesday, sneaking past 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Spartans have posted since March 6th.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Sunny Hills' offense. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of La Habra on Tuesday. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Villa Park has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Sunny Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Villa Park beat Sunny Hills 4-0 when the teams last played two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
