            Basketball Recap: Smithsburg Leopards vs. Governor Thomas Johnson Patriots        
        
		
        
        
            Smithsburg was the  68-59 winner over Governor Thomas Johnson when they last played one another  back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Smithsburg Leopards took a  blow against the Governor Thomas Johnson Patriots on Friday, falling  80-47. While losing is never fun, the Leopards can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage  in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings  (they are ranked 248th, while the Patriots are ranked 101st).
Smithsburg's loss was  their sixth straight at home, which  dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Governor Thomas Johnson,  the  win made it two in a row for them and  bumps their season record up to 6-4.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smithsburg will square off against Spring Mills at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Spring Mills knows how to get  points on the board -- the  team has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully Smithsburg likes a good challenge. As for Governor Thomas Johnson, they will welcome Walkersville  at 7:00  p.m.  on Tuesday. Governor Thomas Johnson is facing Walkersville at the right time seeing as Walkersville is stuck on  a  three-game losing streak.
