Baseball Game Preview: Sarasota Sailors vs. South Fort Myers Wolfpack

The Sarasota Sailors will face off against the South Fort Myers Wolfpack at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

South Fort Myers will be up against a hot Sarasota team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Sarasota narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Palmetto 3-1.

Dylan Supple looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mark Metcalf was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Connor Boyd, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask South Fort Myers). They skirted past Cape Coral 11-10. The Wolfpack haven't had any issues with the Seahawks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Sarasota pushed their record up to 9-3-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for South Fort Myers, their victory bumped their record up to 5-6.

Sarasota skirted past South Fort Myers 5-4 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Does Sarasota have another victory up their sleeve, or will South Fort Myers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
