Softball Recap: Mission Valley Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Mission Valley waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Marais des Cygnes Valley Trojans with a sharp 13-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won five games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Kyplee Jacobson and Kailynn Jacobson did most of the damage at the plate: Kyplee scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Kailynn scored two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Adaline Bloomfield, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Mission Valley hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least two batters in four consecutive contests.

Mission Valley pushed their record up to 5-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Marais des Cygnes Valley, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Mission Valley beat the Trojans by a score of 19-5 later that day.
