Basketball Preview: Trumbull Eagles vs. Stamford Black Knights
The Trumbull Eagles will be playing at home against the Stamford Black Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Trumbull has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 999 points over their last 14 matches.
Trumbull stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 88-62 margin over St. Joseph. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, Stamford earned a 56-44 victory over the Vikings on Saturday. Given Stamford's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Vikings are ranked 146th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Trumbull's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 21.7 points. As for Stamford, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-3.
Trumbull couldn't quite finish off the Black Knights in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 and fell 75-72. Thankfully for Trumbull, Chris Nanna (who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 13 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
