Basketball Game Preview: Declo Hornets vs. West Side Pirates

The Declo Hornets will head out to square off against the West Side Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Declo is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Declo is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Buhl: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Declo blew Buhl out of the water with a 54-26 final score. Given the Hornets' advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Indians are ranked 132nd), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, West Side was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 44-38 to Soda Springs.

Declo pushed their record up to 16-0 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for West Side, their loss dropped their record down to 12-4.

Declo strolled past West Side in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a score of 48-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Declo since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
