Preview: Heartland Christian Saints vs. Colonial Christian Cougars
Heartland Christian has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Colonial Christian Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Colonial Christian took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Heartland Christian, who comes in off a win.
Last Tuesday, Heartland Christian really took it to Northpoint HomeSchool for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-18 win at home. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 48-9.
Heartland Christian relied on the efforts of Landon Clemens, who scored 17 points along with 6 rebounds, and Bryce Youngquist, who scored 18 points. The matchup was Clemens' eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Reagan Clemens, who scored 7 points.
Meanwhile, Colonial Christian was the victim of a tough 66-43 defeat at the hands of Indiana Christian Academy last Tuesday. Colonial Christian has struggled against Indiana Christian Academy recently, as their game last Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Colonial Christian had strong showings from Clayton Gannon, who scored 18 points, and Josias Lafontaine, who scored 12 points. Gannon scored a full 41.9% of Colonial Christian's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Heartland Christian's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Colonial Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Heartland Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 29.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Colonial Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
