Baseball Recap: Omaha Northwest Huskies vs. Bennington Badgers

Omaha Northwest had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 3-15 to make it four. They lost 23-1 to the Bennington Badgers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Huskies of the 26-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Bennington, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 20-3. Considering they have won ten matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Bennington's part, Jace Fitzgerald made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Fitzgerald was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Hunter Spencer was incredible, going 3-for-6 with eight RBI, one triple, and one run. Those eight RBI gave him a new career-high. Mason Buechler was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Omaha Northwest will take on Benson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies are facing the Bunnies at the right time seeing as the Bunnies are stuck on a 16-game losing streak. As for Bennington, they will face off against Norris at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
