Baseball Recap: St. Brendan Comes Up Short

St. Brendan lost against Southridge back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. St. Brendan fell just short of Southridge by a score of 8-6. That's two games in a row now that the Sabres have lost by exactly two runs.

St. Brendan got a good showing from Luciano Nava, who struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Nava a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Jan Perez Fernandez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-6. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kevin Leon, who went 3-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.

St. Brendan's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Southridge, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-5.

Looking ahead, St. Brendan will square off against Monsignor Pace at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Southridge, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ferguson at 6:00 p.m. on April 3.
