Softball Recap: Punahou Extends Winning Streak to Six

Punahou put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 5-0 win over the Maryknoll Spartans. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-1 last Saturday.

Not much got past Paige Brunn, who gave up just five hits to keep Maryknoll off the board. Brunn has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sera Tokumaru, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she launched this season. Kealoha Cox was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Punahou hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most one strikeouts in three consecutive games.

Punahou's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-0. As for Maryknoll, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Coincidentally, Punahou and Maryknoll will both be playing Kamehameha Kapalama the next time they take the field. Maryknoll will host Kamehameha Kapalama at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Punahou will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
