Volleyball Recap: Olpe's Winning Streak Snapped at Five Games

After a string of five wins, Olpe's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Marais des Cygnes Valley Trojans. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 2-0 loss last Tuesday.

The final score came out to 25-15, 25-14.

Lilly Skalsky paced Olpe's offense, picking up nine kills. Skalsky got some help from Kayla Steinke and her six assists. Finally, Skalsky was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Olpe's defeat dropped their record down to 21-12. As for Marais des Cygnes Valley, they pushed their record up to 33-2 with the victory, which was their 16th straight at home.

Coming up, Olpe will square off against Flinthills on Monday. The last three games the Mustangs have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Marais des Cygnes Valley, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Lebo on the 11th.
