Soccer Game Preview: Radford vs. Alleghany

The Radford Bobcats will challenge the Alleghany Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Radford's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Alleghany has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

Radford barely beat Patrick County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bobcats never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 4-0 win on Thursday. Considering Radford's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Meanwhile, Alleghany fell victim to James River and their airtight defense on Thursday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 8-0. While losing is never fun, Alleghany can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 316th, while James River are ranked 118th).

Radford's victory bumped their record up to 5-2-1. As for Alleghany, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-12.

Everything went Radford's way against Alleghany when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as Radford made off with a 4-0 win. Do the Bobcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
