Baseball Recap: Nazareth Find Success

While Nazareth's win against Sacred Heart wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Kingsmen sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 15-14 victory over the Irish on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Kingsmen in their matchups with the Irish: they've now won four in a row.

Justice Reid made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and eight unearned) runs off four hits. Reid was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Imheer Isaac, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those runs marked the first that he has scored this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrick Pena, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Nazareth's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Sacred Heart, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nazareth will square off against LaSalle Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sacred Heart, they will head out to square off against Bishop Loughlin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
