Baseball Recap: Rancho Mirage Rattlers vs. West Valley Mustangs

Rancho Mirage extended their losing streak to five on Saturday, dropping them down to 1-5. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the West Valley Mustangs. The Rattlers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2020.

As for West Valley, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 7-0. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.3 runs this season.

For West Valley's part, they gave Carter Donovan the start and clearly made the right call: he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Donovan has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Alexander Boring was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Maximus Vega, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run.

Looking ahead, Rancho Mirage will venture away from home to challenge Hemet at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for West Valley, they will host Entrepreneur at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
