Camden Central is 1-9 against Riverside since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Lions are taking a road trip to square off against the Panthers at 6:45 p.m.
It was a proper cat-fight when Camden Central took on Waverly Central on Wednesday. The Lions lost 8-1 to the Tigers. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Gage Johnson was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off two hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.
Johnson wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jonderek Greer, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, while Riverside put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Liberty Tech Magnet. The Panthers put the hurt on the Crusaders with a sharp 20-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Crusaders: they've now won four in a row.
Cole Yarbro looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Riverside: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-7 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Riverside got a massive performance out of Anderson Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits Thompson has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Newberry, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.
Riverside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .760. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Camden Central's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Riverside, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Camden Central came up short against Riverside in their previous meeting back in March, falling 4-1. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
