Softball Game Preview: Elyria Pioneers vs. Keystone Wildcats

The Elyria Pioneers will square off against the Keystone Wildcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Elyria came up short against North Ridgeville on Friday, falling 13-4. The Pioneers have struggled against the Rangers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Morgan Palos was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Katelyn Lesko, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Meanwhile, Keystone was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 10-0 to Independence.

Keystone saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bristol Foster, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Elyria now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Keystone, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Keystone's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Elyria hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. It's a different story for Keystone, though, as they've only averaged .105. Will they be able to contain Elyria's hitters?

Elyria was able to grind out a solid victory over Keystone when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 10-7. Do the Pioneers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
