Basketball Recap: Vincent Memorial Picks Up Second Consecutive Victory

If Imperial wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Vincent Memorial, they should've done a better job of containing JoseCarlos Acosta. The Vincent Memorial Scots walked away with a 53-44 win over the Imperial Tigers on Tuesday thanks in part to Acosta, who went 10 for 15 to rack up 22 points and eight rebounds. That makes it 12 consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Vincent Memorial's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Manuel Talavera, who posted six points. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (four).

The victory made it two in a row for Vincent Memorial and bumps their season record up to 13-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points over those games. As for Imperial, they dropped their record down to 11-11 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Vincent Memorial won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Calipatria at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Imperial, they will head out to challenge Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
