Softball Recap: St. Mary's Takes a Loss

The St. Mary's Lancers came up short against the Viera Hawks on Wednesday, falling 8-2. The Lancers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ella Dovey was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Jada Mushat also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

St. Mary's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Viera, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

St. Mary's will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Frontier at 5:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Viera, they will challenge Astronaut at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The War Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
