Softball Preview: East Leopards vs. Bonneville Lakers
For the second straight game, East will face off against Bonneville. The Leopards will look to defend their home field on Monday against the Lakers at 1:00 p.m. East knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Bonneville likes a good challenge.
East heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Saturday. They fell just short of Bonneville by a score of 13-11. The Leopards haven't had much luck with the Lakers recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.
For Bonneville's part, they got a massive performance out of Marley Chournos, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. What's more, Chournos posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee McAfee, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Bonneville hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East struck out seven times.
Bonneville moved to 8-16 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for East, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-11.
